Single Source Authoring
Situation We were provided with a lengthy policies and procedures manual that needed to be adapted across multiple platforms to reach a wide range of audiences.
Task Our goal was to consolidate the information, upload it to MadCap Flare, and create a file that could be updated easily and published in multiple formats.
Action As it originally existed, when uploaded to MadCap Flare and published as a webiste, each heading was turned into its own page, resulting in a large and difficult to navigate webiste. We began by assessing the current situation and consolidating the the topics by similar subject matter. Each topic was edited to become a concise concept, task, or reference. We followed the principles of minimalism and EPPO to provide a better user experience for the busy hospital staff. The new topics were uploaded to Central and underwent a series of reviews before being re-integrated into the document. We organized the pages into a new and more intuitive table of contents to prepare it for publishing.
Result We created highly readable and searchable topics that can be edited once and uploaded across multiple platforms.

Screencast Tutorial
Situation Camtasia is a unique tool to assist users with recording video and audio and editing videos of all variety. Video tutorials in particular are a popular market for explaining information and attracting a new audience.
Task I was tasked with creating a screencast tutorial over a web-based program or application to teach users a task or overview.
Action I chose to conduct my screencast over MS Word styles. It is a program that I use extensively in my career. I decided to perform a general overview to show that styles could do. There are too many applications for style to cover in a 90 second to 3 minute video. I created detailed storyboards to outline each shot and decision and wrote an accompanying script. I adressed troubleshooting issues and best practices and big ideas.
Result The end product is an informative video over the general working of MS Word styles. It addresses the pros and future applications of the tool.

- Description: As a team of 12, we evaluated the original site, researched the audience, wrote content, designed pages, and coded the site. I worked as a lead programmer to build the website. Aside from forms and the responsive menu, the site is completely custom css. We used responsive design for easy viewing on mobile devices.
